So yesterday, I was so excited to have everything packed and ready for school and work the night before. I am normally rushing through the morning and I did not even think that I should check the weather. Sent the kids and myself on our way with light rain coats, no gloves, and no hats. It snowed, like a blizzard as school was letting out and well, I realized I need something to save my sanity.
That scenario is one that often happens in my life. I do my best to be clean and organized so much so that I often forget the little things that help keep me sane. My truck is cleaned out all the time and of course when I need something, I had in there two days ago, it is already at home and put away (remember, everything has its place). So I decided to help save my own sanity and create this little upcycled, mobile sanity saver, that fits perfectly in the center console of my truck!
I grabbed a Chick-Fil-A Chicken Tortilla Soup container, some washi tape and stickers for decoration and then collected items that I am constantly searching my car for. Kleenex, hand sanitizer, hair ties, nail file, safety pin, bandaids, super glue, batteries, pain relievers, and a Chick-Fil-A gift card because food is life.
I think went to work, covering the lid of the soup container with washi tape. This took all of 5 minutes.
Next I used some old scrapbooking stickers to add the words “Sanity Saver”. In hindsight, I would have rather used my Silhouette to make vinyl words that were a bit prettier, but I was doing this quickly and grabbed what I had.
Then I filled up my soup container with my necessities. They fit perfectly and even had extra room for other items. I might add some bobby pins, chapstick and fruit snacks for the kids later.
I put the lid on and called it good. The Sanity Saver now sits happily in my center console of my truck ready to be used…oh wait, I already used the tissues this morning, because runny noses happen when mom forgets it is going to snow. See, useful already!
Happy Friday Friends! Have you upcycled a container like this before?
