Stage Images Dance Studio originally opened in 1986 and served Brighton, Colorado and surrounding areas for 13 very successful years. I actually danced for Julie (the owner) both as a tot and worked with her throughout her tenure as our dance coach in high school. Julie was instrumental in my life as a youth and I was very excited to have her impact my own children the same way.
I enrolled the tiny princess in the 3/4 year old ballet and tap dance and we started at the beginning of February. Currently, Stage Images Dance Studio is utilizing temporary facilities until they acquire their own building, but Julie has found a great temporary home in one of the local and centrally located elementary schools.
The ballet and tap class an an hour and consists of the students doing stretches and warming up and then learning a little bit of their performance routine each class. Julie really focuses on making sure that the students learn not only the motions but also the correct vocabulary while keeping an upbeat, organized and fun classroom.
At the halfway point in class the students switch into their tap shoes (Julie has the kids learn a bit of independence and teaches them to change their own shoes) and then they begin working on their tap skills.
Parents are welcome to peek in on the class as they practice, they are just not allowed into the room so as not to disrupt. Julie however, does an amazing job keeping the little ones focused and on task the entire hour. It truly flies by for both students and parents and is really a joy to watch.
They also prepare a tap routine and work on the skills needed to put on a great little performance in the coming months. At the end of each class, Julie pulls each student aside individually and gives them some positives from class and sometimes gives them one thing to work on for the next class and then gives the students stickers for their hard work.
