Disclosure: We are partnering with Spider Monkey Denver to bring you this post. All opinions are my own.
Last weekend our sweet boy celebrated his 8th birthday at one of the coolest venues in Colorado. Spider Monkey Denver is an indoor extreme air sports park located in Aurora, Colorado. It hosts a huge variety of extreme activities and was a fantastic birthday experience for everyone in attendance!
I contacted Spider Monkey shortly after my son went there with a friend. He could not stop talking about how cool this place was and telling me how bad he wanted to have his birthday party there. I was a bit nervous planning a party, sight unseen, but my son’s excitement was enough of a buy in that I knew regardless of my worries, he was going to have the best time ever.
Check In
We walked in to a gigantic venue, bustling with happy people having a great time and some seriously fantastic employees. Coming from the family entertainment business myself, I have pretty high expectations of how these birthday party packages should work. From check in to clean up, I was extremely impressed and walked out of there with ideas for our own birthday party packages!
We checked in, through a separate birthday party line, where we turned in our waivers (which you can preprint or even sign online) and our party hosts, got each party attendee an awesome pair of no slip socks, a bracelet and a stamp. In addition, they grabbed our cake and any decorations that we had brought and took those back to the party room for us. We did have to wait for about 15 minutes while they cleaned up the room from the previous party and prepped for us, but it was not a big deal at all. It actually was great because we were able to wait for the rest of our party attendees in the main lobby area on some fantastic couches and get all the kids in their socks.
Once our party room was ready, we shuffled everyone that way, put our shoes in the huge provided cubbies and sent everyone out to take on the extreme air sports park! So far as the party mom, all I had done was turn in waivers, tell kids to get socks on and walk to a party room. I was feeling very relaxed at this point and happy that the party room was all set and ready for us! I literally did not have to decorate anything and our party hosts took care of our every need.
The Park
I have been to those trampoline parks before, they are ok, and that is pretty much what I expected from Spider Monkey. Yeah…not even close. This extreme air sports park is beyond expectations. It is not just trampolines and jumping and flipping kids. There are foam pits, ninja training areas, zip lines and so much more. I was a bit overwhelmed, but the kids, they were on cloud nine and it was amazing.
From our little party guests to our big ones, everyone had a great time. The park was so big and had a few different levels and so many places for kids to play that not once did I look around and see a kid not enjoying themselves. They always found something to do or try and the “flight crew” employees were phenomenal about getting everyone hyped up and having a great time, while keeping it safe and fun for all.
As a Ninja Warrior fan, I was SO excited to see a ninja course set up over a large foam pit. It was perfect for all ages with various challenges and sections for different levels of ninjas. Our little girl was in her element and had the best time going from one section of the course to another.
She did have a big helper though which was great for mom. I decided not to jump, because I really thought I would be needed more during the party and it turns out, I was not. Which honestly, was perfectly fine by me! I was able to laugh and joke and play even without getting on the various activities throughout the park.
Like I said, there was so much to do in the park. The rock wall was a huge hit for lots of people and it was fun to see how different people decided to conquer it! Some people would go all the way to the top and then back down and up in a zig zag motion all the way across, others just went straight across, others just climbed up to fall straight down into the plush foam pit! It was a crack up.
One of the biggest hits for our party goers was the zip line though! This is my 2 year old cousin just killing it on this attraction. It doesn’t go to fast, if they fall off it is straight into the foam pit and the smiles of the kids (and adults) when they finished the zip line was so fun to see!
Of course no extreme air sports park would be complete without dodge ball, and Spider Monkey has it organized and played perfectly. Setting up fair teams, making sure that a flight crew member is there to manage the game safely and angled trampolines for extra boost! The boys played for a long time in the dodge ball area and had a great time!
For Parents
Spider Monkey Denver has an awesome elevated level for parents and other onlookers to watch the action without having to be in the middle of it. Observers can get a wrist band and hang out on the main floor with everyone else or they can head upstairs where there are comfortable couches, chairs, tables and even TV’s. You can see the entire park from up here and a lot of parents were utilizing this gigantic area. This photo only shows 1/3 of the observer area.
The Party at Spider Monkey Denver
So normally this is the time in the party, where the mom starts to hustle and bustle, while feeding everyone and making sure drinks are full and everyone is happy. Well, this was my favorite part, because our party hosts took over and did everything for me! I was able to enjoy the party so much more and watch my son enjoy his birthday, instead of miss out because I was so busy with everyone else. We ordered pizza and soda and our party Spider Monkey Denver hosts, served every single person and made sure that drinks were always full, messes were cleaned and everyone was happy.
When it was time for cake, they cleaned up the table, put the candles on the cake and even walked it over to him and lit everything. I was able to be in the prime photo spot, and take in this moment. My son loved it because they shut the door and turned out the lights for him while we sang the Happy Birthday song. It was magic for me and for everyone there. The party hosts also served the cupcakes to everyone and cleaned up those cake crumbs.
One of the other things that I loved about this party was that they gave my son (the birthday boy) an awesome Spider Monkey Denver shirt to wear. He loved this and it was a cool gift to receive from them! He wore it proudly the entire day and told me that he will wear it every single time we go there. Which will basically be all summer, because it was so much fun.
Final Thoughts
Spider Monkey Denver was one of the best birthday parties that my kids have ever had. They took care of everything and they have a party package to fit any budget. There service was impeccable and the experience was top notch. If you would like to connect with Spider Monkey, get social with them at the links below.
