Our Stay at Gaylord Rockies
A couple weeks ago our family spent the weekend enjoying So Much Christmas at Gaylord Rockies and it was incredible. We kicked off the Christmas season checking into our deluxe suite. We could have stayed in the room the entire visit and been blissfully happy as this room had everything we needed and more.
We did make sure to enjoy our suite to the fullest with a couple movies as well as room service that included breakfast in bed. The kids ordered breakfast sandwiches and I ordered the biscuits and gravy and boy was the food amazing. I really liked that I was able to place my order the night before and it was ready for us when we woke up.
Not only did we have a great room, breakfast in bed on a beautiful snowy morning, and a great dip in the pool at Arapahoe Springs, but we also loved the holiday sparkle and all the events that Christmas at Gaylord Rockies has to offer.
So Much Christmas at Gaylord Rockies
So Much Christmas at Gaylord Rockies has been a tradition for our family since Gaylord opened in Colorado in 2018. This year was slightly different for us for a few reasons. The first was that my husband ended up being called into work due to snow. The second being that we booked a suite and the last being that the hotel is currently under a massive renovation (which is looking way cool btw), that has some areas shut down for the season.
This actually did not take away from the experience at all. I actually think I enjoyed this year more than previous year (minus missing my husband immensely). The hotel was decorated to the nines. I particularly loved the Christmas Tree hallway, with its nods to our wonderful Colorado winters.
In addition to the decor and all the sparkle, there was a ton for us to do and boy did we! Even with the hotel under renovation the holiday activities were aplenty and made for a great staycation.
Holiday Activities at Gaylord Rockies
The main attraction for Christmas at Gaylord Rockies is always ICE! This year it was themed with A Christmas Story, which is my mom’s absolute favorite Christmas movie. ICE features hand sculpted scenes from the movie along with incredible ice slides at a cool 9ºF.
The journey through ICE is not limited by time, and dressing warm along with their provided parkas allowed us to truly take in the story, the art and the fun that this fantastic experience has to offer.
ICE featuring A Christmas Story highlights the unforgettable scenes of the movie, along with quotes that really bring the story to life. What we love is that not only are there an amplitude of photo opportunities, but you are able to stand on, slide and interact with these sculptures. They even had the ice artists doing some live sculpting while we were there!
They really do mean “SO MUCH CHRISTMAS“, because when we left ICE, we were able to do a little shopping, enjoy some holiday drinks and snacks and of course grab a new outfit for our Ralphie Bunny at Build-A-Bear.
In addition to Build-A-Bear, you can schedule your Santa Visit, make a Gingerbread House and other crafts, have cookies & milk with Mrs. Claus and even mail your letter to Santa! We usually do those traditions with my sister and nephew so we skipped this year and went to Cirque: Spirit of Christmas.
I am not going to lie, the show seems cheesy at first, but give it 5 minutes and you quickly realize that these performers are amazing and the acrobatics that they exhibit are incredible. It really brings the show to life and is very fun, a little silly and will have you on the edge of your seat throughout!
One of the last things we did which my kids always ask to do (I think in part because they love running around the hotel looking at all the things) is the Scavenger Hunt. This year was Reindeer Games and it was a good time with a blinky prize at the end…that my kids have been wearing in the car for weeks now.
Overall, we had an incredible Christmas at Gaylord Rockies and hope you take the time to check them out soon. Right now they have a Buy 2 Get 2 Cirque Tickets valid through January 1st, 2024. Use the code “BUY2GET2” at checkout (not valid Saturdays 12/16 & 12/23).
