Disney’s Wish Movie Review

I had exactly zero expectations going into this movie. I am normally so on top of the synopsis and characters of these movies but with life this year taking control, I just didn’t do my research. I might do that from now on because I felt so refreshed and eager to see where Disney’s Wish would take me.

The movie follows Asha a wonderful young woman who loves the kingdom she lives in and dreams of being the apprentice to King Magnfico who is the keeper of all the kingdoms wishes. I won’t spoil the why behind this, but I will tell you that things are not what they seem and Asha ends up wishing on Star to change the Kingdom forever.

Asha is an inspiration and I love a good empowered woman storyline. She focuses on what is right and just and enlists the help of friends like her baby goat Valentino. The entire story is not only magical but encompasses that traditional Disney Animation style mixed with a little new. The songs are catchy and overall I feel like the movie has a great arch to it.

There are a couple moments in the story that are a bit dark, but I don’t feel like it is anything that is too scary for younger kids. My family thoroughly enjoyed the movie and I love that Disney has reached back into their roots to create a movie that is great for all ages, is animated beautifully and tells a story that reminds us that wishes are personal and should guide us to live everyday to the fullest.
