Our second week of summer break has already been epic! The kids have been participating in their very first summer camp experience at Spider Monkey in Aurora, Colorado and it has exceeded expectations in the first day! Kids are happy, parents are happy and this is 5 reasons you need to enroll in Spider Monkey’s Summer Camps!
1. Ease of Registration
So we decided on the fly that we would like to participate in Spider Monkey’s Summer Camp. I was a little nervous that registration would be a bit crazy and that I would have a million forms to fill out, however, that was exactly opposite of what happened. We arrived about 15 minutes prior to the start of camp and registration was fast and friendly and included coffee and bagels!
We simply signed in, made sure our digital waiver was signed and then the kids changed into their shirt and socks. You can register quickly online and sign the waiver. Most parents just checked their kids in and then left. We stayed around and kept an eye on our little one since she was the youngest at camp and this was their first experience. It went amazing and I am so glad registration was so simple.
2. The Gear
You cannot possibly go to a summer camp without gearing up! Spider Monkey was beyond prepared and ready for the kids to be dressed and ready for playtime. With summer camp shirts and their signature safety socks, each kid was dressed and ready for fun at the moment of registration! My kids absolutely lit up when they saw that they got new shirts and socks with Spider Monkey’s logo on them.
3. The Fun
Summer camp has one requirement: FUN! There was no shortage of this at camp. Spider Monkey opened up their extreme air sports floor to the campers for 1 solid hour to just them. With a camp of about 20 kids and a massive venue, these kids were able to play all over Spider Monkey and had the most fun ever! After playing, they had several activities and games set up for the kids to participate in and when it was time to go, my kids (and everyone else’s) were very upset to leave.
4. The Instructors
I am VERY cautious about who I leave my children with, so you can imagine my nerves leading into their first summer camp. Well those dissipated very quickly after seeing how the Spider Monkey Aurora camp instructors interacted with the kids. They were incredibly focused and hands on, making sure to check in with each and every child several times throughout camp and even knowing their names within the first few minutes of camp. They were incredibly attentive and playful and made camp fun. So much excitement, positivity and focus, gave this mama bear some peace.
5. Team Building Skills
One thing that I was not expecting from camp at Spider Monkey Aurora was that they would work so much with the kids on team building skills. As a former coach and current teacher, these skills are some of the most important that I feel kids need. Team building teaches people how to communicate, how to work through problems and how to effectively lean on each others strengths and breakthrough weaknesses.
Spider Monkey Aurora’s team incorporated various games and activities that created a sense of team and allowed them to be creative yet problem solve. From decorating their t-shirts with stencils and having to work together to hold the stencils in place and paint for each other, to creating team posters utilizing various children’s ideas to create a beautiful vision of the group, the team building (although subtle) was awesome.
At the end of the first day of camp at Spider Monkey Aurora my kids were exhausted, elated and not ready to leave! We still have 3 days left and everyone is amped for the week. It was seriously one of the best choices we have made this summer to sign up and so worth the cash. You can learn more about what is included and what to expect on their website, but I just suggest going their and signing up your kids. It has been awesome!
