Each November, I take our daughter for a mommy and me day to The Nutcracker. It is awesome and so much fun, however, my little guy feels left out and so I knew that we needed to start a tradition for him to have a special night for just him. He loves monster trucks, so when we heard that Monster Jam was coming to town, we jumped all over it!
Monster Jam is a night of excitement and fun for all ages. Held at the Pepsi Center it is a huge venue with a fun track and some awesome Monster Jam Trucks ready to compete and put on a fun show! We waited for weeks to tell our son that we were taking him to Monster Jam and finally the night came and when we told him, he ran around the house shouting in excitement!
We have been to Monster Jam before so we definitely knew to bring ear protection and highly recommend that for anyone attending. The minute we walked in and sat down, my sons eyes lit up! We were pretty close to those awesome trucks and he saw Grave Digger and was already cheering for a win! The show started and our little guy was enamored with these big, bad trucks!
There were several different events that the Monster Jam trucks and drivers competed in. It was fun to watch these drivers maneuver the trucks through the course and then compete on ATVs and UTVs! We all definitely started to pick our favorites and one of the coolest parts of the show was that we could login to their site and vote on the performances to help our favorite trucks and drivers win!
Our favorite event was the freestyle category. This is where the drivers can show off their best tricks and really take that track on. High jumping, nose-balancing, and amazing landings had the crowd cheering! I had a hard time getting photos because we were cheering and jumping around with them. What a fun time.
There were also some minor crashes and we definitely liked seeing them right those trucks up and repair them as they waited for the next event. It was awesome and super fun. So funny to see how top heavy these trucks are and just how easy they are to tip. I mean you know they weigh a lot but they just look like hoppy, bouncy, lightweight trucks when they are doing those stunning jumps and landings and rolling over. There was never an injury and those drivers are very professional which was great to see.
Overall, Monster Jam was a night that our son will never forget. He is already asking for us to go again and now we know what our tradition with him will be! However, Arena Cross is coming to town March 17th and March 18th and we are thinking of checking that out too! Tickets are on sale now and I am betting he will also be excited for this event too! I love spending time with our kids individually and really fostering their excitement and passions. I highly recommend all parents take time for each child individually and enjoy that family time.
