Floyd’s 99 Barbershop
I am no stranger to the Floyd’s 99 Barbershop brand. I have seen their shops around town, I have had friends use their services and come out looking incredible and I have heard of the upbeat and fun atmosphere. However, up until last week, I had never stepped foot into a Floyd’s and now I am regretting not going to one sooner!
Floyd’s 99 Barbershops started in 2001 and they pride themselves on excellent service, diverse style and a full menu of services for men and women. I walked in to the shop, complete with amazing rock and roll posters and great music to a warm welcome and fun atmosphere. Floyd’s takes walk-ins or reservations, and each hair service comes with a massage shampoo and sweet shoulder massage. Customer service at its finest!
My Experience at Floyd’s 99 Barbershop
Walking into Floyd’s 99 Barbershop, I was anxious. This would be the very first time that someone I did not know would be coloring and cutting my hair and I had no idea how this would go. I was teamed up with Megan and she listened to my worries, my ideal style and took it from there. I was about to lose a lot of length on my hair and add in a bit of color for the summer.
Megan started by brushing out my hair and talking me through where I would like the length to be. I wanted about 8-10 inches of my hair cut (my hair grows extremely fast) and was ready to feel that light airy feeling on my head again. Then she grabbed the scissors and took a quick 6 inches off and prepared me for a little color.
I wasn’t entirely sure if I wanted to add any color in. I am a pretty low maintenance lady when it comes to hair. I like to keep it long enough to pull it out of my face, but like it a bit shorter during the summer because my hair is soooo heavy and hot. It always lightens up from the sun in the summer, but I wanted to blend in some highlights to change it up a bit. Megan suggested a Balayage color blend and we went for it!
After sitting for bit waiting for the color to set and enjoying the atmosphere of Floyd’s 99 Barbershop, Megan came back and shampooed my hair right at her station. I really liked that all she had to do was turn me around and the sink was right there. It was super relaxing and every product they put on my hair smelled incredible!
Then it was time for the final cut and style! Megan got to work going off a picture that I had my Instagram followers choose. She cut it to almost exactly where I had specified and kept the style simple and easy for me to do at home. That was a must. This low maintenance mom and teacher needs to be able to brush and go and still look great. She nailed it. The final length loss was about 8 inches total and my hair just felt light and amazing.
Stylist That Rock
I mentioned that I never have had anyone that I did not know cut my hair. I am used to hanging with friends and family and chatting it up while getting my hair done, so this was a new experience for me. I loved that Megan was super personable while doing my hair. We talked dogs, and travel and school and so much more and I really felt at home in her chair.
She was willing to take photos of the process, was in no hurry to get my hair done and really took the time to make my experience enjoyable. Looking around it appeared that others were having similar experiences with their stylists and the shop was booming with energy! Oh and also the shoulder massage after the haircut was an added bonus that was super relaxing and fun!
The Final Look
Light, airy, short and fun! My summer look and goals nailed and I just love it. It is just long enough that I can easily pull it back out of my face, but short enough that I am not feeling all that weight pulling down. I can blow dry it and run out the door, or curl it for a little flair. It has some good volume and the color is really great.
I came home and my daughter squealed about how pretty my hair was and how the color was like hers. My husband loved it (and this man is never a fan of my shorter hair) and my friends and family thought the cut fit my personality and style well. I totally agree and I will definitely be back again!
