School Worries

I am a worrier.  I try not to, but I think it is just part of being a parent and it is something that I am fully aware of and work to not obsess over.  One thing that helps calm me is making sure that I am prepared.  That is why I shop for school supplies early, and I meal plan and I keep a schedule in plain sight.  Being back to school, my worries can sometimes intensify, especially around germs and lice.

Back to School Kid

Two years ago, my son’s classroom had an outbreak of lice.  Lucky (or not really) for us, my son had strep throat that week and we thankfully missed out. Since then, I have made sure to work with my kids on ways to prevent lice and making sure that our household is prepared if those little bugs end up here.

One of the ways that we are preparing is having a stock of Licefreee! products on hand.  After reading the reviews on their website, I knew they were the product to trust for a fast and efficient solution if we do have to deal with an outbreak.  With several affordable products to choose from both in store and online, it was hard to pass up this back to school necessity.

Licefree! Products

Licefreee! is an over-the-counter lice treatment that has been around for over 20 years.  It is NON-TOXIC and are free of pyrethrum and permethrin (synthetic insecticide), but still very effective on super lice.

Licefreee! Home Spray

They have a fantastic selection of products and they are effective, gentle and come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.  Their line includes a Licefreee! Spray and comb, a Licefreee! kit with their shampoo and after treatment, and the Licefreee! Home spray which is great for those hard to wash surfaces and linens.

Tips for a Licefreee Back to School

I never thought that we would even be considering a lice outbreak.  I am an overly clean person and a massive germaphobe, however, I cannot control everything and lice is one of those.  Since the incident in our son’s class a couple of years ago, we have worked with our kids to teach them how to lower their chances of exposure.

Tips to a Licefreee Home

  1. Don’t Share Items:  Talk with your kids about not sharing certain items. These can include hats, coats, bows, combs, pillows, lovies and anything that might go on or near the head.
  2. Keep Your Stuff Together: Make sure your kids keep their coats, backpacks and anything else together and away (if possible) from common spaces like coat racks, lockers and the floor of a classroom.
  3. Talk to your Kids: Make sure your children know about lice, but also make sure they are empathetic humans.  Do not shame them or teach them to shame others who have lice.  I am a big believer in karma (what goes around comes around), and making sure that we educate our children about lice and about how to approach that subject with others, is very important.
