The Toys Are Back!

Toy Story first hit theaters in 1995, when I was in 6th grade and just like most, both my generation and my children grew up with these loveable characters.  They have been a part of our lives for so long and when we found out Toy Story 4 was coming out, we were all so eager to see it.

In this 4th installment, our favorite toys are back (along with some new ones too)!  From kindergarten, to road trips and lost toys (GASP), Toy Story 4 takes us on a fantastic adventure that will have you laughing and hey, if you are like me, even shedding a few tears.  We see a new side of some of some characters and real full circle moments that were never expected.  You are just going to have to see it to understand!

When the final credits rolled, I was crying and laughing all at once and I looked over at my littles and my oldest also had some tears in his eyes as well.  It was just a moment of understanding and happiness and a bit of sadness that you just get.  We have watched the character development, their challenges, and their personalities over 4 movies and this was a culmination.  We all agreed that we just loved it and wanted to share our top 3 things we loved about Toy Story 4!

1. Forky

This is not a spoiler.  We have seen this little guy since finding out that Toy Story 4 was in production.  He made us laugh in the first trailer and let me tell you, this little guy keeps you giggling the entire way through.  He isn’t a fork or a spoon and in his opinion he is also not a toy!  However, Bonnie loves this silly spork dearly and the adventure he takes you on will have you hysterically laughing the entire time!

2. Road Trips!

It is no secret that our family loves a good road trip!  My kids loved that the toys (and Bonnie of course) took off in their RV to see the sights.  My daughter was all about this and told me how cool it was that Bonnie got to take ALL her toys.  I giggled, because this is a constant battle with our little one, to only choose a few toys to take so we do not lose any.

The road trip storyline was a great way for her to understand why I want to limit the toys, but also just great in general.  It was hysterical to watch the family deal with the joys of road tripping and rolling with the punches and unexpected changes that come when you are on the road and how the toys responded as well.  By far, I laughed the hardest during these scenes.

3. Woody & Bo Peep

I was NOT expecting this.  I am not sharing any more than that, but I will say that bringing Bo Peep back into the Toy Story franchise as a main character was amazing.  I always loved the relationship between these two in the first couple movies and I never quite understood what happened and then Toy Story 4 hit and you guys, it was awesome.

She is an empowered woman and I LOVE that portrayal of her and pair that with our favorite cowboy and it is just electric.  Woody is always learning something about himself in the Toy Story movies and Bo Peep helps him come to terms with yet another change and it is amazing.  Overall, the movie was just incredible and we loved it and Bo Peep and Woody made it just that much better!
