Colorado Ballet presents Sleeping Beauty is a magical experience full of incredible dancing, storytelling and a little fun too! Check out our review below.

Last weekend my best friend and I headed out for a girls night to take in Sleeping Beauty presented by Colorado Ballet. I love those princess tales and was so ready to see how a beloved story of mine would be adapted to the ballet. The adaptation was wonderful and so were a few other pieces.
The Set
Wow. It was incredibly detailed. Although I was aware that it was curtains that were strategically placed to create dimensions, you honestly had a hard time pulling yourself out of the set. The detail was incredible and helped to tell this beautiful story.

As each new scene changed, it brought new details to gaze at and it definitely kept my eyes moving. My friend and I both agreed that it was one of the most beautiful sets we have ever seen.
The Dancing
Like you didn’t know this was going to be a key moment for me! I love the ballet. I studied ballet as a kid and it is a highlight of my life. Watching these amazing professionals tackle some of the most incredible movements, was awe-inspiring. One aspect I love about Colorado Ballet is that they really push their dancers to showcase skills that many ballet companies would not.

I swear the dancers float on air and can hold a position for hours without flinching. This was proven over and over again in some of the most athletic and beautiful presentations through Sleeping Beauty.
The Storyline and Some Humor
I adore that in every presentation I have ever seen with Colorado Ballet, that they place some humor into the story. Nothing is spoken in any Ballet, so the dancers and performers have to be incredible with their facial and body expressions.

I loved that each time a new scene happened, there was a little something for us to giggle about, but I also loved that the story of Sleeping Beauty made us think and really analyze the story. My friend and I had a great time talking about the various elements during intermissions and really enjoyed this part of the ballet.
There’s Still Time to see Sleeping Beauty!
I have been talking non-stop to friends and family (and yes even my students) about how much we enjoyed this ballet. It was on the longer side of ballets that I have been too, but it was so beautifully presented that the time went by quickly.
