Disclosure: Our family was hosted for a lunch at MAD Greens. All opinions are my own.
A few years ago I was introduced to a tasty quick service restaurant called MAD Greens and I remember really enjoying the food. There had not been one close to my house to enjoy on a regular basis, so it was only on special trips that I would get to jump into some amazing salad combinations and really eat some good food.
When an email came through inviting us to a tasting, I was super excited but quickly realized that I had jury duty, so that would not be happening. Imagine my surprise when they offered to do a private tasting for my family and in a location that I didn’t even know was so close to home! I literally frequent this shopping center and MAD Greens is tucked away on the side that I never venture too. Well that is all about to change!
MAD Greens has a variety of fresh and tasty salads, wraps, grain bowls and juices that are really wonderful. Our family jumped right in, ordering the Don Quixote which features mixed greens, chicken, avocado, mango, corn and cheese as well as some kids grilled cheese meals and a create your own option. The service was fast and food is prepared right in front of you.
Both the salads that we ordered were huge. In fact we both took half of ours home because they were so big! Everything was fresh, crisp and flavorful and I really liked that they made the salads they way that we wanted them. My salad, the Don Quixote comes with ginger dressing, but I cannot stand ginger, so they put on a cilantro chili lime dressing that was fantastic! my husband built a pretty classic salad and filled up on the protein.
For the kids we went with fruit bowls and grilled cheese. Surprisingly, my kids love salad, but this day they were all about the grilled cheese and after seeing it, I wanted one too. The cheese was some ooey gooey incredible melted magic and it smelled divine. They both ate this meal right up. I was hoping that they would want to try the awesome boxes that are offered for kids too but they were just not interested in anything but that grilled cheese. The awesome boxes allow kids to pick up to 6 snack items (all six can be the same) to create their own meal that they will love. We saw kids all over the restaurant eating these, so they must be a big hit.
My husband HAD to try their broccoli cheese soup and when that spoon hit his mouth he basically fell in love. He shoveled it right in, and in between bites was telling me how good it was. I probably would have had a bite if he would have offered, but the man was obsessing over it (lol).
One of the new menu items that MAD Greens is featuring are these fantastic grain bowls. The come with whole grains, fresh ingredients in several different flavor combinations like southwest, Buddha and spicy bacon. We were able to sample one of these and both of us agreed that the next time that we come to the restaurant we will definitely be ordering these grain bowls.
One of the last things we tried were some of their in house made juices. In full disclosure, I am not a fan of juicing and I have a hard time mixing fruits and veggies and calling it a drink. I definitely tried these, but they were not at the top of my list. However, people all over the restaurant were drinking them, so if you are a juice loving person, MAD Greens clearly has something great going on here. I will say that their soda machine is not the run of the mill. It features Main Root Sodas which are gluten free, vegan, non-GMO and tasty as heck.
We really enjoyed our afternoon at MAD Greens, taste testing all the yummy, fresh goodness they have to offer and learning more about the company. We learned that everything is made in house from scratch like the juices, salad dressings and even the prep of the salad toppings. The freshly shred their cheese, cut every tomato by hand and the upper management also works in the stores to make sure that what they are providing customers is the best of the best.
MAD Greens is also debuting a Mediterranean menu for a limited time and constantly has new menu items coming out and great seasonal offerings too. One of the best things is that they also listen to the wants of their customers and they literally read every single comment card, email and note sent to them. That is some amazing customer centered work. Make sure to hop online, place your order or head in store to your local MAD Greens for some awesome food that will not disappoint and wont wreck havoc on that waistline either!
