Disclosure: I am partnering with prAna for this post. All opinions are my own.
My health journey as of late has been non-existent. I made all sorts of changes in January and really wanted to work on losing weight, taking control of my diabetes and living a better life for and with my family. Excuses, excuses, excuses, bottom line, it didn’t fully happen. I was great for 2 weeks. I lost like 7 pounds and even then I just couldn’t commit. I hate restricting myself, I love dessert, our schedule sometimes is overwhelming and I didn’t make the time to meal plan. It was time to find a fit, both in exercise and clothing.
Its a journey though and so with that comes the recognition of stumbles and failures and trying new things to see what works for me. So with that, I decided that I need to do some more of what used to keep my body in shape. Roller skating. I have been on roller skates since I could walk. It is a family business and it is what my body knows. It is also great cardio and something that I love. So on Sunday, I put on some new workout clothes from prAna and headed to our rink.
We’ve owned this skating rink for nearly 60 years and it truly is home. I feel good when I am there, I know every facet of it and I just love the workout I get from getting on that floor. I forget that I can come here anytime I want and enjoy time with my family and time to myself getting back to one of my passions. It is not only good for the body but it is good for my soul and it is where I want to be.
We got there on Sunday, I got my skates on and realized quickly that although I will never forget how to skate, I am definitely out of shape and my skates need some serious work. Just 10 years ago, I could race around that rink and like it was nothing, not even getting a drink of water for several hours and have no aches and pains. Well 10 minutes in, I was definitely feeling thirsty and a bit tired.
I only skated for about an hour but I was definitely feeling the sweat and cardio and was feeling great about getting out there. I was glad that I chose to wear clothes that were comfortable and easy to maneuver in. There was a ton of little kids there and I spent some time inadvertently working on my agility because I was dodging little falling bodies all over the place.
My kids were also not being the most cooperative that day and so we decided it was time to get going. Before I left though, I did an impromptu fashion shoot in front of our building. I had to show off these awesome high waist leggings and super cute constellation shirt that I got from prAna. The shirt is awesome, breathable, long in the back for extra coverage and still stylish. I love the back of it with the all the gathering.
However, I think I have found my new favorite leggings from prAna. These high waist leggings are guaranteed to not be see through. The also hug in that mom tummy of mine and squeeze comfortably in all the right places. No dimples, and just the right fit makes them hard to beat!
I had an awesome time at the rink and am very happy that we decided to go skating. I am planning to do this a bit more (hopefully once a week) to really work on my cardio and endurance. I don’t like running, but I love skating and both give your body that great full workout and get the heart pumping! Once I got home, I was inspired to make a low carb meal and enjoy some quality time with my family. It was just a wonderful day and I am so glad that I am starting to find activities that I enjoy.
prAna is always one of my go to clothing brands to shop and they never fail to have just what I am looking for. Right now you can use my code AELFS18 at checkout for 15% off any non-sale items ordered on the prAna website. I love the versatility of being able to go from running errands to working out to cooking dinner or even grabbing a lunch with friends and still feeling stylish.
