The holidays are in full effect and I have a full rundown of the must see activities for Gaylord Rockies Christmas Celebrations!
Disclosure: We were invited to preview the event at Gaylord Rockies. All opinions are my own.
Gaylord Rockies Christmas Celebrations
A couple weekends ago our family headed to Gaylord Rockies to kick off our holiday celebrations. This holiday tradition is something that we all look forward too, but this year we were extra excited because Gaylord Rockies Christmas Celebrations post COVID meant that ICE! was coming back!
Gaylord Rockies does an incredible job spreading the holiday cheer and really leans into their “So Much Christmas” motto. The minute you walk into the resort, the lights, the giant tree, the stockings at the fireplace and the holiday decor throughout brings that magic to life. From their guests can head down to Mistletoe Village to really immerse themselves into the Christmas celebrations or hit Glacier Point for some winter games & activities!
Glacier Point
Our kids LIVE for Glacier Point. Sitting just outside on Gaylord Rockies lawn is a massive winter activity and game area including ice skating, snow tubing, ice bumper cars and snowball build and blast. We almost always start out snow tubing and then hit the skating rink.
I love that they have these ice whales to help littles learn to skate (or ya know, mom not to fall). Skate rental is included in the price and you can skate all day. We also took on the ice bumper cars and chased each other down bouncing and sliding all over the ice.
Finally we played a round of the snowball build and blast. We built, tossed and earned points having a great time. We had a great time at Glacier Point, however, there was still SO Much Christmas to check out.
Cirque: Spirit of Christmas
We have enjoyed the holiday Cirque shows at Gaylord Rockies every season. However, Cirque: Spirit of Christmas was one of my favorites. It addressed the hustle and bustle of the holiday season while showcasing incredible acrobatics and talent.
We were laughing, interacting, and holding our breath as the artists portrayed this awesome story. It was such a fun show that brought the holiday spirit to life while also showing off some impressive skills!
Merry Snoopy Scavenger Hunt
My kids love doing the scavenger hunts that Gaylord Rockies has each season and this year is the Merry Snoopy Scavenger Hunt. You can grab your clue booklet that is also chocked full of workbook activities as you explore the entire resort on a search to complete Snoopy’s dog house.
When you are done you check back in and there is always a little prize for completing the hunt. I think it is super fun because not only are you able to solve the clues but you also get a chance to move throughout the resort and see all the holiday decor.
ICE! featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas
Glacier Point, Cirque and the Scavenger hunt were fantastic, but the star of this year’s holiday experience at Gaylord Rockies was ICE! featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas. These magnificent hand carved ice sculptures depicting scenes from the movie brought this beloved movie to life.
You are offered a parka to wear through ICE and at 9ºF you are going to want it (unless you are my husband and you work in this, then apparently it’s only cold at the end). Once in, let the wonderment and skillful sculptures engage your memories. There are tons of areas to snap photos and the Gaylord employees are willing to jump in and take photos as well.
One of the highlights of ICE! is always the slides and they didn’t disappoint. I took a video but totally forgot to snap photos, however, plan to take on those ice slides too! The entire experience is really wonderful. The artistry and skills that the sculpture employed to create such magic is truly phenomenal.
If you are looking to experience any of the Christmas activities at Gaylord Rockies, please check their website for tickets. you won’t want to miss this.
