Disney’s Strange World
Disney Returns to the big screen this holiday season with Strange World. Following a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an uncharted, treacherous land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog and a slew of ravenous creatures.
The voice cast also includes Dennis Quaid as Searcher’s larger-than-life explorer father, Jaeger; and Lucy Liu as Callisto Mal, Avalonia’s fearless leader who spearheads the exploration into the strange world.
Review of Disney’s Strange World
Admittedly, I have not been on top of the movie game lately. Life has been overwhelming and exhausting and I didn’t even realize that Disney was releasing a new animated movie this season. However, I am sure glad that we took the evening to explore with the Clades because this science teacher totally loved this movie!
Strange World takes viewers on a whirlwind of a mystery through a land of curiosity as they work to try to save the world as they know it and make a discovery that will challenge all that they are. I want to spoil this movie so bad because I just have SO much to say but for now, I am going to just leave you with at “get tickets and go see it now!”
Underlying Storylines I Loved
Strange World tackles some pretty awesome storylines throughout, but without spoiling anything there are a few that I wanted to mention. First, strained family relationships. Families are hard. We love hard, we fight hard and sometimes we let our egos get ahead of our hearts and boy does Strange World put this topic at the forefront showing people everywhere that it is ok not to be perfect.
Secondly, love is love. I am certain that one of the talking points that people will want to discuss is the openly gay character and Disney’s amazing approach to him. If this is something that bothers you, maybe avoid, but if you are wanting to show your kids exactly how to be accepting of people and to love thy neighbor then this story does exactly that in such a subtle but open way. I loved it.
Last is the ability to listen, learn and change. It is clear that this movie has strong characters who know who they are, what they are about and how they are making their world the best it can be…until everything they knew changed and man did they fight to change too!
Strange World is playing in theaters everywhere! Make sure to get to theaters now and enjoy some epic family adventures to ring in that holiday season!
