Haircuts, Just leave it to the professionals.

This past week has not been a great hair week in our household.  On Monday, my kids stayed the night at grandmas.  When I dropped them off the princess went straight for some scissors that I promptly took away from her and handed to my mom to put away.  My mom apparently forgot to put them away and my sweet girl cut a chunk of hair out of the front and side.

The little hair standing straight up is just 1/4 of the hair cut from the front.

She gave herself some layers 🙁

When my mom brought the kids back to me the next day she told me that the princess cut her hair and my sweet girl looks up at me and says “It’s okay mama, it will grow back.”  How could you be upset, it could have been so much worse, so I am thankful that I have a creative little girl and that hair will grow back.

I am now just learning more things to do with her hair so that it hides those little hairs and looks alright.  We did a half up twist here and just twisted the tiny hairs in and secured it.  You cannot even see the tiny cut hairs.
Then there was the boy.  He did NOT cut his own hair but he needed a hair cut something fierce.  The poor guy’s hair was so long, that it was getting in his eyes and because it is super thick, we could not style it.

Look how long it was!
I had kept forgetting to call and make an appointment with my aunt to cut his hair and when I finally did she was booked for the days that we could make it.  So I figured, I would give it a try.  I had cut my husbands hair and my aunt had given me a few tips to cute my little guys hair.  Plus I had watched him get his haircut like 100 times.  It couldn’t be that difficult right?

My first attempt…

Wrong, so wrong. All I had were clippers and no spray bottle to wet the hair.  I started by shaving the back of his head but it was so long and ended up being uneven.  I changed the size of the clippers and took to the top of his hair and although I tried really hard, I could not blend the sides to the top.  I tried to style it to make up for the crookedness of the cut, but it still looked pretty rough.

So when my husband got home, he and I took the little guy and fixed his hair using a comb to help shave and blend the sides.  I accidentally touched a corner of the clippers and nicked his head so he has a little bald spot, but attempt two went much better.

Bottom line here is that this week in hair was rough and we are leaving it to the professionals next time.  I apologize to my aunt now for the work she will have to do to fix his hair in a few weeks.  I tried, it looks a bit better, but cutting hair is definitely something that takes skill…of which I do not have.
Hope you are having a better hair day then my kids are.

Yup. Leave it to professionals. go to a salon rather that do it your own. You'll enjoy the money you'll be spending with your lovely hairstyle then.
