The weather was perfect, the sky was stunning and the restaurant was airy and open. Perfect way to kick off our last weekend before school starts. We ordered our drinks and the kids colored and enjoyed a sucker before we ordered.
One thing that I love about the Rusty Bucket is their ice! I am an ice connoisseur and they have that soft pellet ice! So awesome! The kids both ordered Shirley temples and I had water while the husband went with an iced tea. Drinks were plentiful and filled before we were even 1/2 way done with them. I have to say that our service was awesome. Our server was also training a new server and the trainee was taking the lead and did a great job.
We were there during happy hour and snagged some 1/2 price appetizers. Fried pickles and WINGS! We love us some wings in our home so having some for 1/2 price was a no brainer. The kids and I wanted the BBQ wings and my husband wanted the sweet chili, so we did half and half.
I went for those sweet chili wings and oh my were they amazing. Perfectly crisp with a sweet flavor and kick in the end. Love them so much. I ended up eating all of the sweet chili ones instead of the BBQ wings. My kids were happy to finish off the BBQ wings anyway! Also I am 90% sure the ranch dressing is made in house because it was the best dressing I have had in a LONG time.
For our entrees we all went in different directions. I was feeling some good old mac n cheese and man was it a great choice. Swiss and American cheeses melted with an ale and topped with panko cheddar crumbs served with a side of garlic cheese bread. My mouth is watering now. It was so much food that I had to take 1/2 my dinner home. Awesome!
My husbands choice was the Philly cheesesteak with shaved prime rib, mushrooms, onions and provolone cheese. He is not a huge fan of cooked peppers and because the Bucket is awesome they area always willing to make the food exactly the way you want it. He said he enjoyed his sandwich but that he would have probably liked to eat an entire entree of wings instead.
Now the kids menu is awesome. They have several typical selections with some not so typical selections and items that meet the LiveWell program for healthy dining standards. Our kids just liked that they could pick whatever they wanted and customize it. It wasn’t just a burger with fries. Our son had a PB & J and fruit and our daughter was a crack up with a hot dog, broccoli and she had to have a side of mustard. This girl is a little oddity in the food world, but at least she is willing to try anything.
