You Guys! Today is my first day of Summer…and guess where I am at. Yup I am at work with my bestie!
We are doing the final clean up as our building is under construction and well, when you teach in a huge school with a large science department and the building has not been purged in 27 years you can imagine the amounts of junk that we have sorted through. Luckily I am on the final clean up crew and our work was minimal. My amazing colleagues had quite the undertaking and did a fantastic job and I could not be more thankful for them. Happy Summer to ALL the teachers.
Our Principals gift from our department.
Yesterday was my Principals final day as she is retiring. She is pretty much the most amazing person ever. She saved me from the job I call “Hell” and brought me to this fantastic place where I could grow and be challenged as a teaching in a professional way. I do not even think that she understands the impact that she has had on my life both professionally and personally. That lady has allowed me to break down, fall apart and be built back up. She is already missed and yesterday there was not a dry eye in our building when she addressed our amazing staff for the last time. We were so blessed to be in her presence, under her direction for the last 5 years.
In family news:
My kids are ready for summer too. Trampolines, hanging out with mommy, riding our ATV’s and camping are just a few of the things on our list. I am so eager to do nothing for an entire week with them!
The little miss has been in rare form lately. She insists on dressing herself sometimes and as a result we get some creative outfits like the one below. In addition, we pretty much cannot leave the house without a baby doll of some sort.
The dogs are also ready for summer. I mean come on look at this lazy pup. Fun fact about this long haired 80lb dog is that I am pretty sure I brushed enough hair to build another 80lb dog out of. It took me 4 days on and off of wrestling with her as the neighbors probably gawked and laughed. As you can see it was extremely exhausting for her.
Oh and then there was this. My poor little guy had a run in with a bug…that may have been a mosquito but we do not know for sure. What we do know is that he had a pretty severe allergic reaction and after a concoction of benedryl and claritin the swelling has greatly decreased. The picture on the left is yesterday morning (2 days AFTER the initial bite it swelled) and the picture on the right is last night. Thank you western medicine.
So far this week was a whirlwind. I finished up my 6th year teaching and my kid had an allergic reaction for the books. Oh and I forgot to mention that yesterday morning when I was home alone my garage door just mysteriously opened on its own. What a crazy week. I am definitely ready for it to settle down and for what I think will be a fantastic, budget friendly, family filled summer. Tune in next week to see what we have in store!
