We are two weeks in and surprisingly it is going very well. So far I have been great about moving the elf and it has been easy since I created my list of 24 ideas, including how to make and Elf on the Shelf Gingerbread House. I am super glad that I created that list because it makes prepping each night much easier. My set ups only take a couple minutes and the kids adore them. Week 1 was great but week 2 was better!
Last week my kids decorated the gingerbread house that my son just had to have. What he really wanted was the candy. I kept it in the freezer for a couple days and finally brought it out, only for our elves to TP the entire house! My son laughed for hours on this one. This Elf on the Shelf Gingerbread House is the perfect way to get the whole family roaring with laughter.
The next morning our elves were elbow deep in dog food with the Dalmatians.
The teeth troubles in this house have been mighty this year. So we have been diligent about replacing and encouraging brushing. Our elves brought some new toothbrushes to help encourage too!
I saw a snowball fight on Pinterest and loved the idea, but I am limited on time so I improvised. Hiding behind some signs with marshmallow as projectiles these elves were probably the best surprise of the week!
Our iPads have been gone for months. My son was waking up in the middle of the night to play games and watch Netflix. However, the elves snuck in a quick movie night. It killed my kiddo to not touch the iPad, but he did think it was really funny that they were watching a movie.
The kids really thought this one was pretty cute. At least that is all my princess told us the entire day; “Pink is really cute mama”. I think Picasso elves were pretty creative too!
There was some tears yesterday morning when the elves could not be located inside the house. My kids were both pretty upset, until we got into the truck and my kids we elated! They loved that the elves went for a ride to our sitters and school. It was a nice surprise for them to show up in an unexpected place.
I try my best to put the elves in places that I think are easy for my kids to see. With two little kids and this being our first year it is very helpful for them to be able to find the little guys easily. Week 2 went exceptionally well and I am ready to rock the next couple weeks.
How are your Elf on the Shelf Gingerbread house creations coming along?
