Disclosure:I received free products in order to host the Bright Starts sponsored Play Date. The opinions expressed here are my own.
About a week ago we enjoyed some family time with our cousins and had a little play date with some new toys! It was a great time and the toys were a hit. Truthfully I even parted with a few because some of our playmates were entirely enamored with them. Check out our fun.
The toys that we received were the Learn & Giggle Fish™, Learn & Giggle Activity Station™, Gigglables™, Bunch of Balls™ and Spin and Giggle Puppy™ all designed by Bright Starts™. I have a lot of the Bright Starts™ line of toys for my kids already because they are great quality, long lasting, educational and fun. The packaging was easy to open which I actually really appreciated and I only needed some scissors here and there. It took me about 5 minutes to get all of the toys out of the packaging and ready for a fun little playdate.
Our playdate was in the evening after a holiday event and we had a potluck style menu. It was great. Each mom brought some kid foods over and the kids snacked and played. I totally forgot to grab a photo but I had each mom make a little recipe and bring it. We made:
Giggle Mix (combine into a bowl and serve):
- 1/2 C of Cheerios
- 1/2 C unsalted pretzels (broken into smaller pieces)
- 1/2 C of dried apples
- 1/2 C of cranberries
Little Fingers Fruit Salad (combine into a bowl and serve):
- 1 pint Blueberries
- 2 C green grapes
- 2 sliced bananas
- 1 small cantaloupe cut into kids size pieces.
- 1/2 watermelon also cut into kids size pieces.
Roll & Go Wraps:
- Whole Wheat Tortillas (10-in works best)
- Thin sliced cheese of choice
- Thin sliced turkey lunchmeat
- Spread the hummus on the tortilla, lay a slice of cheese atop that and then a slice of turkey. Roll and cut into snack size pieces.
Play Date Parfaits:
- 4 C vanilla yogurt
- 1 pint strawberries
- 2 C granola
- Layer all ingredients evenly into small disposable cups and serve. We did yogurt on bottom, then strawberries then granola.
The hit of the party was the Learn & Giggle Activity Center™. Not only did this toy light up and make fun sounds and songs it also was educating the kiddos. My daughter could not stop playing with the kitty and the fish bowl and at one point there were so many littles entranced by the shapes and colors that all the moms were giggling ourselves.
The Learn & Giggle Activity Center™ offers children the ability to sit, or stand while playing and learn about various letters, numbers, colors, shapes and songs. It was delightful and kept the children’s attention for a really long time. What was great was that all kids were able to push buttons and play on this activity center together.
Another toy that the bigger kids at the party loved showing to our babies was the Learn & Giggle Fish™. Literally the glowing lights and and the two learning modes was fantastic. Our tiniest baby was entranced with the lights and my princess loved showing him all the songs.
However the toy that had all the littles laughing out loud was the Spin & Giggle Puppy™ paired with the Bunch of Balls™. In fact, my daughter has taken this toy to bed with her every single night since I opened it for the play date.
This toy spins the balls around and bobbles about. It has some great sounds and songs and the kids really enjoyed seeing how many balls they could make the puppy hold and spin around. They laughed and played with this the entire time. Some fun activities that you could play and we tried were:
Light up Dance Party: Turn on the music mode of the Learn & Giggle Fish™ and get everyone up and dancing.
Flip Book Fun: Gather everyone around the Learn & Giggle Activity Station™and have an adult turn the pages of the flip book and watch the children’s reactions. Take turns letting each kid push the buttons and hear the phrases and sounds.
Roll, Baby, Roll: Get everyone in a circle and use the Giggables™ ball and the Bunch of Balls to roll around the circle! It is fun when the parents get involved too!
It was great having some new Bright Starts™ toys in the house to play with and even better doing so with our friends. All 10 of the kids from 3 months to 8 years old really had a nice time.
