Why we switched to Walmart Family Mobile

Theme nights in our house are some of the best times. Our kids truly love these special dinners and movies and so do we. Sometimes these can be difficult to orchestrate especially financially in the movie department and that is where Walmart Family Mobile comes in to make our evening a success!

We just got our tax refund back and refinanced our house. We were officially debt free at the end of February and that is a fantastic feeling. However, we want to keep it that way and cut our bills each month to put money away. We were looking for some specific features to really meet our families needs. First we wanted a good phone with a nice camera, next we wanted a good data plan, we needed 4G service and finally we wanted to save money. It was a no brainer to jump in the car and check out Walmart Family Mobile. I had read other bloggers reviews as well as talked to several people and everyone seems very happy with their service and plans through Walmart Family Mobile.

We went straight to the electronics section and in the front of electronics was a huge display for Walmart Family Mobile. The plans and phones offered were right there and so many phones were on rollback which made our shopping experience much easier. The associate helping us explained several of the plans available and the husband and I decided that the plan that best fit our needs was the new Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan.

This plan offers unlimited talk, text and data up to 10GB of 4G LTE service PLUS a free movie on VUDU every month ($7.00 value). All of that for just $49.88 a month per line. That price is 1/3 less than what we were paying and offering a free movie once a month was a huge PLUS! We use a lot of data, as we do not have a home phone and I do a lot of work from my phone so this plan fit our needs great and the fact that we have access to a free movie once a month sparked my happy creative mama side.

We browsed the phones and decided on the Samsung Galaxy CORE Prime on Rollback for $79.92 and also grabbed the Starter Pack for $25.00. The start up of our new plan and phone was still actually less than what we were paying for one phone and was a great way to spend a portion of our tax refund responsibly.

The Samsung Galaxy CORE Prime was a great option because it was lightweight, had a 5mpx camera and was the perfect price. It was very easy to set up the phone when we got home. All I did was login to the website as directed on the starter pack, place the sim card in and type in a few numbers. I then selected the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan and hit enter. Just like that I had a working phone and new number ready to go. Setting up billing was a breeze on Walmart Family Mobile and the entire experience was so much easier and less stressful and far less time consuming then the chain cellular stores.

Extra data and saving money was a huge consideration when purchasing a new plan. Between this blog, graduate school, teaching and my children, we were using all of our data and more per month and our phone bills were outrageous. I cannot believe how much we are saving and how much of our tax refund we are maximizing by switching carriers. It has already made a huge difference in our monthly bills and when I checked our data usage already this month we are no where near close to exceeding or even hitting those 10GB. That makes this money saving mama so happy.

In fact, I decided to celebrate some money saving fun and utilize that free VUDU movie this month, with a Barn Animal Theme Night! I decided on Pigburgers, Cauliflower sheep and Acorn donuts along with a fun animal movie.

The PigBurgers were easy to make, just grill some hot dogs and hamburgers, place the burgers on a bun with your favorite condiments and then decorate the top bun like a little piggy. I used a cake decorating tip to cut circles out for the eyes and then used mayo to secure the ends of olives to the cheese and the bun. Next, I cut the ends of the hot dog off and then in half to make ears and used toothpicks to secure them and finally I cut a cross section of the hot dog and used a toothpick to secure it to the bun for the snout. I used ketchup to create that signature piggy nose and boy were these a hit!

Next up was the cauliflower sheep. These were a bit more difficult. First I broke apart the cauliflower into fleurettes and then I used toothpicks and black olives to make the head. The legs were also a toothpick olive combination. I had to put the olives on and try to stick the toothpick through the side of the olive to make the legs stay. The kids thought they were super funny. Next time I will try bigger olives and something different for the legs.

Finally I made the Acorn donuts which were the hit of the evening. We rarely have sweet treats at dinner time so this was really special.

These are so much easier than people think. Simple take pre-made donut holes and dip them in melting chocolate then immediately into chocolate sprinkles. Lay them to dry on wax paper and then when dry push a pretzel stick through them for the stem. My kids love these.

Our Barn Animal Theme night was ready all thanks to saving some money with Walmart Family Mobile PLUS and the free VUDU movie.

We sat down, enjoyed dinner and then grabbed some blankets and snuggled up to catch a movie before bed. It was nice being able to use VUDU to stream our movie through our Smart TV and really enjoy some family time.

I cannot think of a better way to use our tax money and help our family continue to stay financially fit so that we can enjoy more moments together. Walmart Family Mobiles PLUS plan is just what we need and I am so happy with our decision to switch carriers and make the most of our tax refund.
