Vans are not particularly our thing, however, we decided to give the new 2021 Toyota Sienna Platinum hybrid model a cruise. Check out our honest thoughts and read on to see if we would purchase.
Disclosure: I am partnering with Toyota. All opinions are my own.
Checking out the 2021 Toyota Sienna
My husband and I were invited to join in a roundtable discussion on vans. We are NOT van people. I never wanted to be a soccer mom, I never wanted a minivan and up until a couple weeks ago, we had never even sat in the driver’s seat of a van. However, the roundtable discussion lead to us checking out the 2021 Toyota Sienna.
We were sent the 2021 Toyota Sienna Platinum Hybrid. This car arrived in the gorgeous Cypress green color, complete with the blue outlined hybrid emblems and honestly looked really nice on the outside. The wheels are 18 inch metallic and it comes with chrome roof rails, the birds-eye view camera with perimeter scan and the rain-sensing variable windshield wipers.
The exterior of the Toyota Sienna was nice to look at albeit a van, but still it was sharp. Jumping in the driver’s seat this van is fully loaded and has everything at your fingertips. We are huge fans of the heads up display and we really like that Toyota has moved the cruise control from its own lever onto the steering wheel.
The interior of the 2021 Toyota Sienna Limited Hybrid comes with their premium leather seats and both the front and rear captains seats are heated. There is also an optional rear entertainment seat and ease of access for the kids with the hands free dual power sliding side doors.
This minivan boasts a spacious interior, with plenty of room for 8 full grown adults. Toyota did not skimp on size or on the tech throughout. There is even audio hookups and USB charging ports in the 3rd row. What we were most impressed with (keeping in mind we are NOT minivan people), was the stow and go seating.
This Toyota Sienna is able to utilize SO much space and is super simple to adjust for what you need. We unfortunately had to move my deceased sister-in-laws apartment during our duration with this van and we were so thankful that we had the ability to adjust the seats and stow them when needed to fit the larger items in and transport items. The seats moved so smoothly and made a horrible tragedy a bit easier to manage.
Overall Thoughts on the Toyota Sienna
If I had to buy a car strictly based on gas mileage to space ratio, this would be the car we would purchase. Our kids loved the car. They asked us to buy this car and were super upset when we both declined. We loved all the features and the space that the Toyota Sienna had.
It was super nice to push a button to let the kids out at school in the morning and then close and go. We loved the gas mileage and how smooth the driving experience was. Colorado roads are notoriously awful and this little van made you forget that. It doesn’t have a ton of get up and go, but it sure looks pretty.
I can’t say that we personally would be adding the Toyota Sienna to our garage but I think it does make a great family vehicle and that Toyota put a lot of thought into ensuring that families would be safe, comfortable and have all the space and features they could want.
