Happy Birthday Buddy
He is going to kill me for that title alone, as he has been relentless in reminding me that he is growing up, but he is and always will be my buddy bear and today we celebrate his 9th turn around the sun! To celebrate, I am sharing some of my favorite things about this boy who made me a mom.

This boy, who is sweet, talented, loves video games and anything with wheels. Who would choose a family night over a bowl of ice cream any day. This boy who has a crooked little smile like his mama, a heart of gold like his grandmas and a silly spirit like his daddy. This boy is nine and this mama can’t deal right now.

All day I have been on the verge of tears, as various things come flowing out of his mouth. “Mom, I don’t need a booster anymore, I am too big”. “Dad, when I start driving can I have your truck”? “Can you believe how I am almost in 4th grade”?
Stop it kid. Mom is not ready yet. I blinked and you grew up and although I am so happy that you are maturing into an amazing human, I am not ready for these years to continue to speed up. This year and every year has been the best with you in it and today we celebrate my big guy!
Best Big Brother EVER
This gets my heart every single time. This boy of mine, he truly loves his sister. Even when he is being mean, it isn’t nearly as mean as I ever was to my sister. More often than not, he is playing with her, making jokes, teaching her something and I have never seen a kid so willing to share.

He loves his sister dearly and it is the sweetest thing to watch these two together. He would do anything for her, even when he has no interest and would rather do anything else, he still helps her. If she is upset he tries to make her happy. He sometimes knows how to deal with her drama better than anyone and their bond is so special.
Water Baby
He has always loved water, but this past year since he has been able to swim much better, getting him out of the water is a challenge. This boy LIVES in water. Bath water, pool water, muddy puddle water, river water, lake water and when he got to go to the ocean a few weeks ago, he was the last one in the water for the day.

He is in his element in water and I love watching him thrive and enjoy it. I cracked up at this photo because he was just dancing and showing us fortnite dances as the waves were rolling in. Then he would just fall back into the water and laugh. Best memories.
Adventure Is Out There
With our little guy, if it involves adventure, he is in. ATV’s, motorcycles, shooting guns, whatever it might be, count him in. Just yesterday he came home from school and state testing and told me that he saved his soda can so that he can use it for target practice with papa.

He happily sits through hours and hours of driving to get to the best trails and fishing holes and never complains. He loves to experience all that life has to offer and although sometimes it takes a bit of a push, he usually will gives something a try at least once.
He Still Lets Me Dress Him
Yes even after I put him in a women’s ugly christmas sweater that apparently said wine on it and had little wine glasses all over it. Each night he still asks me to pick out his clothes and in the morning you asks me to fix his hair. It may not mean a lot to him, but to me, I love that I still get to do those things for him.

I mean some days are better then others, but he never complains about what he wears and even on the “wine shirt day” he was such a good sport!
Artistic Side
He has always liked noises and music and so I was sure that he would take up music, but lately, he is just drawing and coloring and creating at every second. It is so fun to see him recreate his favorite video game characters or to have him draw me something special in art.

I actually love this so much that I purchased those frames that you can easily switch out your kids art easily. I hang on to all those special drawings and am so thankful that he has that creative spirit.
Technology Master
I love technology. I am a pretty early adopter of new tech and our son is the same way. This boy loves technology. From watching videos to making them himself to learning how to code and playing his favorite video games. He would spend days online if we would let him. Sometimes he even teaches me things.

We have some pretty heavy rules in this department and sometimes he is not always a fan of them, but he always listens and I love his passion for this.
My Wishes for Nine
Buddy Bear, In a few hours you will blow out your candles on the cake that is baking right now. You will make wishes for the upcoming year and keep them near to your heart. However, my wish for you this year is the same as it always has been. I wish for you to continue to be a good human, to love life, to work through challenges and to love with all your heart. Oh yeah and stay healthy baby boy.

Happy 9th Birthday Buddy Bear!
