Sneak Peak of Disney's The Nutcracker

I LOVE the Nutcracker. I have taken our daughter to the ballet for 3 years now and own a DVD of an old ballet that we watch all the time. So when I found out that Disney was making an adaptation of The Nutcracker, I flipped my lid! I absolutely am on pins and needs to see this and am fangirling all over the movie poster, cast list and any other materials I can get my hands on!

If you are unfamiliar with the story of The Nutcracker it is about a young girl who receives a beautiful gift of a nutcracker. She loves this doll and goes on a magical journey with her nutcracker friend. Battles, world travel and experiences that are unforgettable shape this amazing ballet and I cannot wait to see how Disney adapts this beloved story. Based on the synopsis below they are definitely adding their own flare to the story and I am eager to see how this comes across on the big screen.

The Cast

The cast list is start studded and incredible. Keira Knightley, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Mackenzie Foy, and the incredible principal ballerina Misty Copeland headline this movie and will be sure to impress. I am so excited to see this combination of talent in the Nutcracker, Disney really outdid themselves with casting here!

Looking at the photos the costumes are stunning and I get the feel of that whimsical ambiance that was similar to what we saw in Beauty and the Beast. The magic in these photos is just everything.

Disney’s The Nutcracker Synopsis

All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world.
