My son wanted to be Mario for Halloween. For the first year, costumes seemed pretty easy. I mean the real transforming Optimus Prime was pretty awesome and R2D2 won some cash money, and our Lego Batman was spot on, but a costume that didn’t take weeks of construction sounded super appealing! It was pretty easy to put together, I found some overalls at the thrift store and cut and sewed them to fit, added some yellow buttons, a red shirt, hat and used my Silhouette to cut out an “M” for the hat. However, you cannot have a Mario without a Princess Peach!
My mom took on the challenge and made the Princess Peach costume. She basically already had the costume cut out from my wedding. Long story short, this was supposed to be my flower girls dress, but that didn’t work out, so my mom saved the pieces and added some embellishments to the dress to make it look more like Princess Peach! I made the crown and sculpted the “jewels” out of hot glue, a mold and some acrylic paint! The pendent was also made from hot glue, with some beads and a little lapel pin to hold it on. It was perfect and she loved it!
However, we were not done there. Obviously, we needed a Luigi, so my sister stepped in and put together a little baby Luigi costume! We could not find a hat to fit him, so my mom made one 😁 and he would not keep the mustache on so we improvised and drew it on with eye liner! He looked adorable, but since he is 1, he doesn’t sit still to take photos or pay attention.
My cousin who is our son’s best friend, also joined in for the evening and the boys just needed a best friend photo! I cannot remember which character this guy is, but he kept telling me that he did not need to smile because his mask did it for him!
It was party time and no party is complete without food and music! We made life easy and grabbed some Jack O’ Lantern pizzas, waters and paper plates.
Music was also easy! We just recently got this Sonos One with Amazon Alexa and with a simple voice command we could play a specific song or just a genre. The sound is fantastic and it is small (and portable if needed).
Everyone enjoyed the pizza and I was really glad we had a little for leftovers because you bet I brought it for lunch today! The kids were getting excited and ready to go out. I was glad that after 2 doses of antibiotics my little guy was feeling much better and could enjoy the day!
However, the real entertainment for the evening came from the kids playing with our Sonos! They loved picking different songs, turning up and down the volume with just their voices and dancing around. It was definitely great to have this fun little tech toy!
When everyone was finally ready, we headed out for some trick-or-treating fun! The kids were very polite and did a great job. We went to about 15 houses before everyone was ready to head back. That baby could have trick-or-treated ALL night and loved going up and down the walkways and seeing everyones pumpkins and puppies!
When we came home, the boys HAD to show us their dance fight theatrical performance! I have no idea when, but they made this up and the giggling you hear in the video is totally me. The sound isn’t great, but my cousin tells Alexa to play some song and then the boys have an intense dance battle. It was adorable and so funny!
This party was really a great time and I am so glad we had some awesome entertainment! The kids and adults enjoyed playing with our Sonos system! Sonos is an awesome product that allows you to incorporate your streaming services with Amazon Alexa! With a quick, “Hey Alexa” you can choose specific songs, a genre or an artist to listen to. It really is the smart speaker for music lovers.
Our family constantly has to have sound and this speaker is perfect for us. The kids are able to tell the Sonos what they want to listen to and then dance, sing and help mama clean up. I also liked that I can check the news, traffic and control our other smart home devices and that I can quickly order items from Amazon simply with my voice!
The speaker is a sleek black matte color, has a little weight to it (which I like because it is not going to easily fall over), and sounds tremendous. It easily fills the room with clear, crisp sound and brings the party to life!
You can grab a Sonos One at Best Buy and try this awesome voice speaker for the music lover in you!
