As local Coloradans, Gaylord Rockies is literally in our backyard. In fact, we live only about 20 minutes from the resort and it is one of our favorite staycations. This year we were invited to check out their summer of more experience featuring pirates and princess themed activities and of course we said yes!

Our Exclusive Experience
We were able to check out so many things at Gaylord Rockies and wanted to highlight some of our exclusive experiences! From pool time, to food, to Pirate & Princess fun, we checked it all out.
Arapahoe Springs Cabana Experience
This was our first time experiencing their fantastic cabanas and the top notch service that accompanies them. Providing a bit of privacy, shade and some great seating either poolside or by the lazy river, these cabanas come with a bucket of spirits, great views and food and beverage service.
We checked in and were escorted directly to our cabana and our kids immediately jumped in the pool. I had a bit of work to finish up, but it was awesome being able to sit poolside, get a little work done and still be able to watch the kids from my comfortable lounger.
Arapahoe Springs is a massive water park area. Featuring both indoor and outdoor pool options, it is easy to spend an entire day lounging, playing and enjoying. Our kids spent hours on the waterslides, in the various pools and lazing around in the tubes of the lazy river.
When I say all day, I mean we got there about 30 minutes after opening and we stayed nearly 12 hours. I loved having the cabana because we had a great shady spot, right by the pool where I could keep an eye on them, work, jump in and cool off, have awesome food and beverages delivered and a great relaxing day.
Incredible Food & Drinks
Gaylord Rockies has several on site dining options. You can do sit down dining at the various restaurants, grab drinks throughout the entire resort or even have food delivered right to you poolside. The food is incredible. We have eaten at Gaylord several times and not once have we had a bad dining experience.
This last trip, I was on a bit of a food lifestyle change (because diabetes), however, I did indulge a bit on a favorite of mine, their loaded french fries. The kids enjoyed cheeseburgers and fries and I had a nice bucket of sparkling water during the afternoon.
My husband unfortunately was at work for the majority of the day, but when we returned, he and I watched the kids swim from the cabana while we enjoyed awesome Pina Coladas and other libations.
Summer of More
Although our time was a bit limited this time, we were still able to fit in a few of the Gaylord Rockies Summer of More experiences. From the Shiny Stash scavenger hunt, to painting at the pirate and princess art studio and s’mores we truly had a great time.
The kids love to do scavenger hunts. They actually have asked me numerous times to go geocaching or to just hide stuff in the house with clues. So we knew that the Shiny Stash scavenger hunt would be a good time for all of us. Searching for treasure throughout the resort, following clues and ending with a fun little surprise at the end, it was great fun for all of us.
Our daughter is big into arts and crafts so we picked the Pirate and Princess art studio experience as well. We decided to have a bit of a competition among our family and I promised I would hang everyone’s art creations in our basement.
Everyone worked really hard and honestly, I love each of them for so many different reasons. Also, you can 100% see each of our personalities in these paintings. Our son is a bit abstract but follows directions, our daughter is a whole ball of energy, I am clearly a perfectionist and my husband has a silly imagination (his boat has ran ashore)
S’mores were an obvious must. I am not going to lie, I keep s’mores in the house and in our camper because they are my family’s favorite treat, so why not enjoy a delectable treat at our favorite locality.
