So. Much. Christmas at Gaylord
The holidays are back in full swing and Gaylord Rockies is celebrating big time with So. Much. Christmas! Our holiday festivities would not be complete without a visit to Colorado’s largest hotel.
Decked out from head to toe in holiday lights, displays and more, Gaylord Rockies is a picture perfect getaway to ring in the holidays. We absolutely love the central lobby of the hotel. Touches of Colorado throughout, with water features, caves, and a little history of our great state.
This year, Gaylord Rockies is bringing So. Much. Christmas to life with a vast selection of activities, events and family fun. From Mission: Save Christmas featuring Elf, to Cirque Dreams Holidaze to winter fun at Glacier Point, you are sure to have a great time.
Mission: Save Christmas featuring Elf™
We were able to get a sneak peek at Mission: Save Christmas featuring Elf this past weekend. We have been asked by so many people if we liked it. The short answer is yes. Elf is one of our favorite holiday family movies to watch and getting a chance to step into the movie and have a little fun was definitely enjoyable.
We started our little trip into Elf by saying by to Mr. Narwhal and then headed into Santa’s workshop. The kids could get some photos in, play some games and even build toys and check them for quality. As we moved through the activities, there was a Clausometer like the one on Santa’s sleigh that would increase as we accomplished various activities.
Leaving the workshop we jumped right into the bakery. This room smelled divine. We stepped up to our workstation and started designing our cookies. When they were complete, the cookies were ready and displayed on the oven screen for everyone to see!
After baking our hearts away, we walked into Gimbels and it was fully ready for Santa decorated by none other than our favorite Elf, Buddy! The kids played on the walking pianos, while we snagged a seat in the big guys throne and admired all Buddy’s hard work.
From there we headed into central park for an epic snowball fight and some final Christmas carol magic to get that Clausometer up to full and get Santa on his way to deliver those gifts! We saved Christmas and had a wonderful time.
Glacier Point
One of the things our kids look forward to the most is Glacier Point. Honestly, I do too. We all get a chance to have a little snow fun together which is not typical for us. My husband is always working when it snows so getting a chance to tube, ice skate and play putt putt is wonderful.
I really enjoy ice skating and I also love that each year Gaylord brings the rink to us. They create new rink designs and make sure that parents and kids have a great time. Rental skates are available with your ticket and you can even grab a little orca (has to be an orca because they are cold water whales) to help balance you while you learn.
New this year to Glacier point is snowdrift mini golf! Look, my family is competitive and we were about this. We actually came back to do this because we missed it the first night. We had a grand time, I lost but it did flurry a bit while we were hitting some balls.
Gaylord Rockies So. Much. Christmas Activities
We didn’t get a chance to see and do everything, but we did experience a good chunk of the holiday festivities. We REALLY enjoyed Cirque Dreams Holidaze. We weren’t allowed to take photos, but if you are looking for a fun holiday show, you are not going to want to miss that. Check out the other holiday activities you can expect at Gaylord Rockies
