Disclosure: I am partnering with Elitch Gardens on this post. All opinions are my own.
Last year, Elitch Gardens invited our family to a day of fun and we had a fantastic time. We were so excited to be invited back this year and were ready to take on the park and share some of our favorite aspects of visiting this Denver must see attraction!
Nostalgia
I have lived in Colorado my entire life, and that is something that I am very proud of. I attended the original Elitch Gardens and loved that old feeling of the park, however, I truly enjoy the beauty of the main walk way as you enter Elitch Gardens. Full of shops (including the Colorado Store, which is a favorite), restaurants and even a theater, this nostalgic entrance is a sight to behold. If you plan on visiting Elitches, you MUST take some time to really take in this main street!
Great For Families
What we absolutely love about Elitches is that there is something for everyone and it really is geared toward families. From thrill rides to kiddie areas, and even a water park, Elitch Gardens has everything.
Each time we enter the park, we immediately turn to the right and go right for the historic carousel. With hand painted animals, this is an absolute must on our list of family rides. Although, I swear that I have the ONLY kids that will not ride on the actual animals and insist on riding in a cart or something similar where they just sit and go in circles. Either way, it is always the perfect way to start our family fun at Elitch Gardens!
Thrill Rides That Will Have them Screaming…Literally.
From the Mind Eraser to the Twister II and Boomerang along with the Tower of Terror and so many more, Elitch Gardens has some incredible thrill rides. Of course, my children had NO interest in going on these. They did enjoy a great spin on the tea cups and came off laughing and ready to go again. The husband and I were 100% ready for all the thrill rides and love to ride anything. We had the VIP Rapid Rider passes and that made waiting in lines pretty much non-existent and made it easy to switch off children at the front of the ride. Totally worth it to scream and let loose while we got our thrill on!
Water Fun!
We chose one of the hottest days on record to hit the park…of course I forgot our swimsuits. Seriously, mom fail, however, that didn’t stop us from taking on Shipwreck falls and getting soaked to help cool off! Our son was NOT excited for this ride and we literally had to drag him on it, but once we finished he was begging to go back on! It was definitely a family favorite and the perfect way to cool off. Next time, I will remember to bring our bathing suits so we can enjoy the Island Kingdom water park inside Elitch Gardens.
Kiddieland is Where the Cool Cats Hang
Elitch Gardens has a really great, clean and well maintained kiddieland. This is one reason we really like coming here. The rides are always in good operating condition, everything is very clean and there are never lines (aside from the roller coaster). Kids can run from ride to ride and wear themselves out while having the best time ever. We spent a lot of time in Kiddieland this year, however, I think we might be outgrowing this area soon.
Quench Your Thirst!
Yes you read the cup correctly, 0.99 refills for the entire season. That means that you can purchase the cup and bring it with you each time you come to the park and receive any fountain drink you want for just 0.99! With such a hot day, we refilled this cup like 8 times and it was WELL worth the purchase. If you are going to go, get yourself a cup!
We had a fantastic time taking in the sights, screaming our heads off and enjoying time as a family at Elitch Gardens. If you would like to learn more about the park or if you want to purchase tickets, hop on over to their website! There is so much to see and do and some awesome concerts coming up too, make sure to check out their schedule of events.
