Italian food, learned skills and a hat! Maggiano’s had everything I could have dreamt of for their awesome kid’s cooking class and so much more. We had an incredible time and wanted to share our experience at the Maggiano’s cooking class for kids!
The Start of the Maggiano’s cooking class
We started the day by surprising the kids with this fun experience. My kids love helping in the kitchen and love to cook, so I knew they would be all over this fun event. We drove to downtown Denver and headed to Maggiano’s for their kid’s cooking class. Once inside, the kids decorated chef’s hats, took a tour of the kitchen and ate some lunch.
I mean it is Maggiano’s, so of course lunch was fantastic. My daughter basically ate her weight (which we all know isn’t much, but whatevs) in the baked ziti, while my son lived on their amazing chicken strips. It was a great start to the experience, but the main event was getting set up and my kids were bouncing off the walls with excitement!
Maggiano’s cooking class Time!
They were going to make some lasagna, and they were ready. Hats on, gloved up, ingredients ready! The Executive chef walked the kids through how to make a typical lasagna, but let them take the helm and create their dish to their liking. It was go time!
This little girl put ALL the ricotta cheese she could in her lasagna. I was ever so thankful for those gloves and aprons at this point. She was full on in it and was squishing that ricotta cheese down with her hands like she meant business. No help was needed from mom, and when I offered, she told me to just sit down and relax. Okay then kid.
Our son, ever the rule follower and meticulous too, worked diligently to create the perfect lasagna to share with his daddy. He made sure it had the perfect amount of everything, spread out evenly and that there was a lot of meat, because daddy likes meat. I really loved watching the kids approaches to making their lasagnas and they were fully immersed in the experience with not even an ounce of complaining.
They worked for a good portion of time on these lasagnas and really tried to make something that they knew would taste good. You guys, they even kept their hands out of their mouths while cooking! It was a proud mama moment.
Through the entire experience of making the lasagna’s, there was not one kid in that room complaining, not one parent getting frustrated, just happy giggles and really focused kids. I do not think I have been to an event where that has happened. Maggiano’s kid’s cooking classes might jut be a little miracle of peace in the world.
The End
As the Maggiano’s cooking class ended, the kids cleaned up, they packaged their lasagnas to go (ready to cook), ate some tasty desserts and took some photos with the head chef. Of course at this point is when the kids all started to melt down, because none of them were super ready to leave! It was a fun experience and everything had a really great impact on the kids which I loved.
