Our History with Corteo
Many years ago, I told my then boyfriend that I wanted to someday see Cirque Du Soleil. He kept that in mind and after we were married, that amazing man, took me to see Corteo on our honeymoon. It was special and wonderful and something that I loved so much. When I found out Cirque Du Soleil would be coming to Denver with this incredible show, I had to get tickets and relive this moment with our little family.
My 35th birthday happens to fall during the shows run in Denver, and honestly I could not imagine spending my birthday with any other people in any other place. Oh and here is a little secret, we are not telling the kids! I am so excited to see their faces watch these amazing actors and acrobats, tell a beautiful story and watch the magic in their eyes. What a full circle moment I am hoping to have!
Synopsis of Corteo
CORTEO, which means cortege in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.
The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music turns lyrical and playful carryring CORTEO through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.
