I cannot believe that we have been at this night time potty training for almost 2 months now! It really has flown by. We are not quite ready to jump on a plane to Disneyland yet, but Jason and I have already started planning our vacation for it, as Eyan is SO close to being fully potty trained!
In the last 2 months Eyan has made some huge progress! We are almost completely dry at night. About 5 out of every 7 nights he wakes up dry. He has stopped needing water at night which really helps. In addition we just converted his toddler bed into his full size big boy bed which was a huge incentive. He has also had many dry naps as well! So although we are still working at it, he is doing much better and I know he is proud of himself because he likes to high five and celebrate when he has a dry sleep. One of his favorite celebrations is still the Big Kid App for my iPhone (Eyan’s favorite is still the 3D Starlight Spectacular). I recommend this app for any parent tackling the potty training journey.
You know what is even cooler! Our tiniest peanut has been thoroughly interested in the potty and specifically in the Pull-Up with Buzz Lightyear on it. She snags them and carries them around and loves to flush the potty. I know we are far from potty training, but it is very cool to see her take an interest. She is also particular to the Big Kid App as well!
In addition to the Big Kid App, I have also utilized the Big Kid Academy via the Pull-Ups website. I have skimmed a few articles on potty training as well as used the awesome Rewards Wheel to help Eyan celebrate. He is a big fan of “spinning” the wheel until he gets the prize he wants (aka: movie or snack…or both because I am sucker!). What I also like about this is that it is easy to customize and I can add specific snacks or movies to the wheel (take that healthy snacks and educational movies).
Our potty training journey with this almost 4 year old has NOT been easy. The boy is stubborn, however, patience and a positive attitude has really helped. Also, making sure that we had a good rewards system and all the necessary potty training gear (fun toilet, Pull-Ups, rewards) and a plan really were key.
Speaking of potty training gear, Pull-Ups has partnered with The First Years to offer something really awesome. When you purchase a specialty potty system from The First Years you will receive a FREE sample pack of Pull-Ups training pants to ease into potty training with your little one. We personally used a potty system and a seat both from The First Years and honestly were very happy with the ease of use, cleaning and storage. For this OCD mama these are ALL important.
