Directional Changes in 2018

Sharing is caring!

I’ve spent the last 7 years on this blog writing about our family, food, renovations and crafts.  I love it and I have turned this little blog into a small business that has afforded our family many luxuries.  I am so lucky, so humbled and so incredibly happy that my friend told me to just start the blog.  However, as this blog grows, there are some directional changes that I need to make in 2018 to fully meet the needs of my growing business.

I spent a week away from posting.  It was not because I lack the content or the motivation, but because I am in the middle of the first big directional change in 2018.  With the help of some AMAZING people, my blog has successfully migrated from blogger to wordpress.  With this comes a huge learning curve and apprehension about not knowing what to do.

I spent the last 7 years writing an average of 200 posts a year on a million different topics and becoming so used to using the easy blogger platform that moving everything over to wordpress was terrifying.  I had a million hiccups in this process and I am 100% sure that people are tired of me emailing them, asking them questions and generally just looking like a deer in headlights.  It is a completely different platform and there are a lot of moving parts to get used to. So please bear with me as I learn how to write a blog again.

I also spent this weekend surrounded by some truly incredible, empowering women who reminded me an awful lot of my roller derby sisters.  So strong, so motivated and so ready to take on the world and change it for the better.  We came together, we brainstormed and we left with actionable goals to accomplish.

So that brings me to my next directional change in 2018. Video. Yeah, it is what is hip and cool right now, it is also something I have really wanted to do for a very long time, except that I haven’t for so many reasons.  Time, appearance, energy and my big ol’ potty mouth.  I know many of my readers, see the good, the bad and the ugly and they resonate with that.  They enjoy the crafts, the honesty and and some of my funny stories, but I don’t always feel like I am putting my authentic self out there.  I have been told NUMEROUS times to write a book about my life, about the unconventional upbringing that I had, about my experiences in the classroom and so much more.  Y’all I have some HYSTERICAL and often unbelievable stories to tell and truly you need to see me tell them, in person to really get the full effect. So I am really starting to entertain the idea of putting more videos on my youtube channel.

So as I get used to a new platform (it took 2 days for me to figure out how to resize photos y’all) and as I figure out a better schedule for my family and my blog, please bear with me!
