Disclosure: We were invited to the screen the movie.  We were not asked to write anything.
When my kids first saw the movie poster for COCO, they were a little apprehensive.  I have to admit that I was too.  Although I know what Dia De Los Muertos is all about, the skeleton aspect had me a little worried that my kids would not handle the movie well.  However, Disney always does is right and COCO was not scary, it was beautiful.

My kids are dying to learn Spanish and have been for a very long time.  I have taught them how to count and some words and the alphabet.  We have also been looking at possibly getting some apps or a teacher because if they want to learn it, this is the time to learn it.  Watching COCO brought that excited passion out in my children even more.

COCO is a story about a young boy named Miguel who has a passion for music that his family does not support.  He loves his family, but he loves music.

Through a series of events he manages to cross the bridge from the land of the living to the land of the dead where he runs into his family who is crossing over to enjoy Dia De Los Muertos.  Miguel is on a mission to bring music into his life with the support of anyone from his family.

He meets Hector and both of them set off on an adventure full of music, fun and family.  I loved that theme of COCO.  It focused on how family is the most important and how you honor those that are here and those that are passed.  With so many of our loved ones already passed over, this theme hit home.  Guys, I cried.  COCO was awesome and I highly recommend that you grab your loved ones and make it to the theaters.

One thing we were really hoping to watch was the highly anticipated, “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure”.  Unfortunately, the screenings were not meant to show this, which is all the more reason for our family to also take another trip to the theater! This little 20 minute show plays before COCO and my friends that have already seen COCO and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure said it was super cute!
