Why did you start a blog? #LoveOfTHeJourney #Sponsored

Often times I am asked how I started blogging.  I can go off on about a zillion tangents on this, but nearly always, my answer is that it has been a journey

This journey essentially started 15 years ago when I met my husband and we began dating.  Dating turned into an engagement, marriage, a honeymoon and a couple beautiful babies.  I had been an avid scrapbooker for years.  I have these beautiful paper craft scrapbooks of our wedding, our honeymoon and both of our kids as well as a few others.  I love to capture memories and look back on the journey of life and while I was very into creating these stunningly crafted books, I also was limited on time, money and space to keep all the items needed to create these.

Terrible picture of my scrapbook creation.

I had been following around on a friends new journey of blogging and sharing her stories as they began to build their family and decided that I would give blogging a try.  It was cheaper, I could keep all the info about my growing family in one space and share it with all our friends and family so much easier than inviting everyone over to look at scrapbooks of our life.  So I jumped right in.  In the early days I shared snapshots of our family, our kids, their milestones and just life in general. Eventually I started to share recipes and crafts and other things that I have always been interested in.

Getting better at photography!
I realized there was a little money to earn blogging and decided to make the leap into turning this little blog into a business.  I had to learn a lot about photo editing and just taking photos that were not terrible.  I had to purchase a nice DSLR camera and lenses and a better computer.  I learned how to best promote my posts and how to understand what in the heck google analytics was trying to explain to me.  Eventually this journey turned into something that I am proud of and one where I can share so many different things.

My journey into blogging has not been without its challenges.  There have been many ups and much more downs as I learn more and more about this business.  I have struggled, cried, laughed and I still keep trying to do better.  When I read the story behind Wente Vineyards and their incredible family journey through the American dream I was really inspired.   C.H. Wente immigrated to America to pursue a better life.  He studied wine making in Napa Valley and built what is now the oldest continuously-operated, family-owned winery in the country.  Along the way there were struggles, and there were probably tears and laughter too.  All business adventures come with their own journey and challenges and that is what helps drive the passion.

I have taken my passion and worked not only on my photography but have been trying to move into making more videos of my work.  It is always a work in progress and maybe 5 years from now, I will look back on this aspect of my journey and cringe, but right now I am so proud of the work that I am doing and how much I am learning.  This is my latest video.  You would not think that a 24 second video would take so much work, but I will tell you that it was a journey in of itself.

All business endeavors require a bit of experimentation, a learning curve and all of them are unique. I am proud of the work that I have put in and am glad to read about other entrepreneurial stories like the Wente families journey.  I was so inspired that while I was out and about I decided to purchase a bottle of the Wente Chardonnay Wine and enjoy a nice date evening with the husband.  We made the strawberries you saw above together and enjoyed some quiet time sipping on the wine, watching a movie and eating the cheesecake stuffed chocolate covered strawberries.

Do you know how difficult it is to take a picture with a selfie stick while snuggled up on the couch?
My husband has always been a great support of mine as I tackle new adventures and hobbies and the Wente family has always been a great support to each other as they work to perfect their craft.  If you are interested in learning more about the Wente Vineyard and their history, check them out on Twitter, Facebook and their history page.
Tell me, what is your journey?
